Introducing a Healthcare Expert to grow our distinguished Wellness Studio.

SGPA is excited to announce the expansion of our Wellness Studio and the arrival of Ignatius Tsang to support this achievement. Mr. Tsang’s background complements our own years of Wellness experience, and SGPA will continue to provide excellent service while adapting our capabilities to address the changing healthcare marketplace. These developments position SGPA to be at the forefront of leading healthcare design, architecture, and planning.

Previously Kaiser Permanente’s Director of Facilities Planning & Design and the Chief Design Architect, Ignatius has extensive experience in all aspects of a capital project and has focused his work on creating innovative, environmentally responsible, and high performing buildings anchored by a holistic, collaborative, and purposeful approach. A Registered Architect in California, Ignatius was a Principal and Owner of Tsang Architecture for over 20 years.  With over 30 years of overall experience and a detailed healthcare portfolio that includes his leadership from both the designer and the client perspectives, Ignatius brings a unique outlook for the future of healthcare design.

“As an Architect, I believe I have both the privilege and obligation to improve places, achieving a higher quality of life and more sustainable environments for users and visitors,” Ignatius said.

SGPA reflects on 20+ years since the integration of our Wellness Portfolio.

In the early 1990s, the firm’s Senior Living and Wellness Studio was launched by the completion of the oceanfront, state-of-the-art Casa De Manana Assisted Senior Living facility in La Jolla, California. Since the Studio’s inception our team has designed over one million square feet and thousands of units in Continuing Care Retirement Community facilities, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Vitality Centers.

Under the leadership of our Senior Living and Wellness Director, Stuart Stoller, the Studio designed the firm’s first clinic in 2004: the Native American Health Center at the Seven Directions mixed use project in Oakland, California. Since then, the Studio has completed clinics housing women’s health, mental health, triage, exercise education, nutritional counseling, dental, laboratory, social services, and pediatric services.

Shared values lead to holistic solutions for Total Care.

SGPA’s Wellness Team believes project success is the product of deep knowledge, technical expertise, and sentiment. Its goal is to provide innovative, supportive solutions, efficiently using the resources available, where people can flourish. Ignatius Tsang’s project history speaks to his own deep knowledge, technical expertise, and undeniable sentiment. When Ignatius speaks about his work he talks about quality of life, human dignity, holistic health, medical research, evidence based design, visionary technology, and respect for life and the environment. Ignatius’ passion and heart match the spirit our team has placed in our wellness work. The Healthcare and Wellness Studio team is excited to welcome Ignatius as the Director of Healthcare and Wellness and is ready to create more transformative, human-centered places for our collective well-being.

“With the dramatic advances in clinical and data technologies, changes in demographics, finances, and policies, healthcare is in a state of flux. SGPA is seizing the opportunity to create a new Healthcare and Wellness Studio to assist healthcare providers to meet the needs of the future,” Ignatius said.

Thoughtful practices create healing places.

Our goal is to create transformative human-centered design inspired by a holistic view of health, guided by research, evidence, and visionary technology. We aim to improve the quality of life of every person that uses or encounters our work.

Our journey always begins with one focus: collective wellness. We care about the total health of the person, the organization, the community, and the environment. We are conscious that our designs will have a far-reaching effect on human health. Our adherence to particular values – human dignity, respect, and integrity – serve as the primary guiding principles for our decision making process.

Our practice is rooted in the belief that research, evidence, and an understanding of new technological advancements are essential to the design and construction of all health and wellness facilities. Visioning and imagining beyond programmatic needs yield evolutionary and revolutionary solutions that mark the difference.

Our process is set to make sense of the complexities and lead the project team to deliver excellent service and an outstanding project. Listening and teamwork, supported by field expertise and high technical skill, define our approach. We look to establish respectful and collaborative partnerships with our clients and consultants. We know that strong relationships and passion for common goals are the foundations for successful project delivery.

Our hope is that the work is a structure through which we can honor life, live well, and prosper together.
