Built in 1938 on a prime waterfront site, the County Administration Center (CAC) was envisioned as a beautiful public gathering place for the San Diego community. The original vision has come to life with a new 12-acre park including water features, and a 250-car underground parking facility. SGPA partnered with McCarthy, Schmidt Design Group, and International Parking Design for this high-profile design-build project on the San Diego Bay.

The expansion brings numerous enhancements to the park, including a new concession and restroom facility boasting natural lighting and ventilation. Additionally, a LEED Silver certification was awarded to the southern section of the park, and a newly installed central plant now provides vital mechanical infrastructure including electricity and water to the cooling towers and fountain equipment. The west terrace has been thoughtfully designed to align with historic preservation standards, while an ADA-compliant east access ramp ensures accessibility. Furthermore, a loading dock was added to facilitate park operations.
