SGPA completed two projects at Casa de Manana including Casa Norte, as an addition to Casa de Mañana in La Jolla, a historic oceanfront senior community and The Villas Project.
The 89,271 SF community space has been meticulously designed as a “public square,” serving as a hub for interaction within the independent facility. The concept seamlessly integrates high-activity areas, such as the beauty parlor, mail room, and activities office, all conveniently located in a central area to support the 39 one- and two-bedroom units.
The community lounge is a two-story space with connecting hallways leading to other public areas. A grand staircase has been elegantly incorporated around the elevator, enhancing both visual interest and opportunities for social engagement. The project incorporated an inclusive community feedback process, with a design to harmonize with the existing historic facility to offer greater opportunities for social interaction through the intensive integration of older building components.
