Downtown Sunnyvale’s revitalization features an entertainment block diagonally across from Redwood Square, the social heart of the city.
This 37-acre project envisions a usable and functional mixed-use town center, emphasizing its close proximity to the nearby historic Murphy Avenue and the Sunnyvale Cal Train station.
The transformation involved the replacement of a shopping mall built in 1979, and CityLine has successfully integrated public gathering spaces, entertainment options, higher density residential units, offices, and retail within a new street grid, resulting in a diverse mixed-use community. This vision comprises 540,000 SF of retail, 970,000 SF of offices, and 1,096 residential units, alongside 6,600 parking spaces. The site includes a 52,700 SF market area and a 54,400 SF theater area with 1,950 seats. It also incorporates a network of bike routes, a new transit bus stop, and a transit-oriented development plan. The complex phasing program will reveal the creation of Redwood Square, a central plaza offering green space and community gathering. The project integrates a new street grid to facilitate functional blocks and connections to surrounding streets, accompanied by a combination of above-grade and below-grade parking, and the addition of new AMC Theatres.
