New three-story building and renovation of an existing building at the La Posada Shelter in Carlsbad.
This proposed 28,984 SF development will feature beds for 199 residents, including women/children, men, families, and farmworker populations currently experiencing houselessness. The shelter is licensed as a Low-Barrier Navigation Center, and provides on-site services such as counselling, medical exams, and case management. The project will include a children’s play area, outdoor community courtyards, a community space on the third floor, laundry, offices, exam rooms, employee break room, multi-purpose and kitchen/dining facilities. Moveable partition pods allow for maximum flexibility, and the new facility addresses security and design considerations for a mixed-gender and mixed-age population campus.
