A dynamic catalyst for the revival of the heart of San Jose’s downtown.
To transform Paseo de San Antonio into a vibrant social hub for downtown San Jose, this project aims to attract exciting new food, retail, and entertainment concepts. This revitalization would not only create a stronger connection between San Jose State University and the greater downtown, but also serve as a catalyst for the area’s revival. The pedestrian experience will be at the forefront of this transformation. To maximize engagement, the Paseo will feature canopies, trellises, planters, and street furniture that create a comfortable and inviting pedestrian scale. Spacious and flexible outdoor dining zones will bring life to the streets, defined by attractive railings, planter boxes, and warm lighting.
Celebrating the city’s identity as a tech-driven innovation hub, the Paseo would incorporate interactive digital features, such as dynamic LED displays and public art installations. These additions will showcase San Jose’s role in the tech world, infusing the area with modern innovation and wonder. Creative lighting strategies will further enhance the ambiance with pedestrian-focused lighting, ensuring safety and comfort after dark.
The design of the Paseo blends historical and modern elements to reflect the unique character of San Jose. Incorporating materials like brick would honor the city’s historical roots, while modern touches with glass and steel would nod to its tech-driven future. Warm wood accents and contemporary finishes will create a welcoming, pleasant environment, striking a nice balance between the past and the future. By integrating these elements, Paseo Place can become a dynamic and inviting space that represents the heart and future of San Jose.
