Wittenberg Manor III Senior Housing

Hayward, CA

The project involves constructing a three-story senior housing building on a 0.33-acre vacant lot close to a major transit center.

This project will consist of 18 affordable senior units, including 16 one-bedroom, and two studio units. The ground floor will have 12 parking spaces, a common laundry room, and the main entrance lobby. The second and third floors will house community spaces and residential units.

This project, by the same owner as the neighboring Wittenberg I and Wittenberg II developments, addresses the need for affordable senior housing in the area. Sharing amenities and operations with adjacent buildings creates a cohesive campus. The design is thoughtfully integrated into the neighborhood, respecting its context in terms of mass, height, scale, materials, and setbacks. Existing trees will be preserved, and new landscaping will enhance the surroundings. This development will contribute to the visual appeal and unity of Bartlett Avenue. The applicant aims to collaborate with the county planning department to leverage state density bonus laws and other regulations for timely project approval.
